Young Professionals

A "Young Professional" (YP) is defined as an individual in the solid waste industry of age 35 years and younger. YPs include field/operations staff and office workers in public and private sectors, along with any other professionals that work directly in the solid waste industry. Membership as a YP provides the opportunity to network with one another and share ideas on shaping the future of the solid waste industry. Additionally, the YP group is committed to engagement and career advancement for entry-level members of the industry through education, leadership opportunities, and facilitating active participation in SWANA.

Membership details

New member Young Professionals pay a special first-year membership fee of $100.

The renewal rates for new YP members following their first year:

  • Year 2: $150 for a renewing YP under the Public, Private, or Small Business sector

  • Year 3: $200 for a renewing YP under the Public, Private, or Small Business sector

  • Year 4: Back to full price at the standard membership rate for the industry sector

Membership as a YP is free for students.
